Organization Background:
DACAAR is a non governmental, humanitarian organization that supports sustainable development in Afghanistan through promoting the ability of local communities to decide upon and manage their own development process. The organisation employs around 900 staff of whom 05 are expatriates. Core thematic areas are: Water, Sanitation & Hygiene; Natural Resource Management; Small Scale Enterprise Development; Women’s Empowerment.

 

Position Description:

The SO will communifate with beneficiaries, farmers, communities’ members in village-leve that will take responsibilities to make decisions with the partners to DACAAR in all interventions.

Complete the village profile in collaboration with the Field officer or project in charge. Community mobilization is a concern with Empowerment and sustainability development.

 

 

Responsibilities:
  • The SO should disseminate the objectives of the projects different interventions to villages’ organizations.
  • The SO will arrange meetings, appointments, regarding field days, and training of farmers (and other beneficiary groups in the area). 
  • The SO resolves any dispute related to projects interventions. 
  • Apply FFS rule and regulation on the ground and train farmers accordingly.
  • Should understand the importance of sustainability and promote its concept among the beneficiaries through dissemination, mobilization, and active participation of the community in the project interventions.
  • The SO should facilitate the work of the project staff through dissemination of the project objectives (To improve food security and livelihoods for vulnerable farming families) and provide inputs.
  • Help Field officers and technical staff in community awareness-raising regarding the importance of income generation activities.
  • Coordinate with the village communities and the authorities. 
  • Promote the concept of, find community beneficiaries and train them in community work, and in consultation with the project officer propose to the section management their training in special technical subject matters to offer needed services to the communities;       
  • Report monthly progress to the project in-charge officer according to the format requested by DACAAR. 
  • Coordinate with Community organization and able to solve internal small disputes with community / CDCs.
  • Collecting related information/data and coordinate with field Officer to finalize reports.
  • The holder of this position must strictly follow the organization existing security policies, procedures and daily instructions of the safety personnel.
  • Any other tasks giving by the supervisor.

 

Education/ Qualification and Employment Benefits                                               

 

Education:Bachelor Degree in Agriculture is required. But, master degree is perforable. 
Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience in alternative livelihood and food security assistance, climate smart agriculture, crop value chain analysis and management is required.  

Other qualifications’ an advantage: 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective community engagement and report writing.

Ability in team working, Good Interpersonal Skills, Good Organizational Skills 

Languages:Oral and written fluency in (English, Dari, Pashto)
