DACAAR is a non governmental, humanitarian organization that supports sustainable development in Afghanistan through promoting the ability of local communities to decide upon and manage their own development process. Position Description:
Primary responsible for beneficiary selection based on established criteria and collecting demographic data for the Alternative Livelihoods and Food Security Assistance project. Actively involved in organizing and facilitating agricultural input and equipment distribution, ensuring quality control of these resources, and maintaining coordination with relevant stakeholders to meet program needs

 

Responsibilities:
  • Plan day to day assessment, beneficiary selection, delivery, distribution and other necessary issues according to the Alternative Livelihoods and Food Security interventions.
  • Conduct thorough assessments for Alternative Livelihoods, Food Security assistance and selection of beneficiaries based on established criteria and collect relevant demographic data.
  • Actively engage in selecting, arranging, and facilitating agriculture inputs/equipment distribution processes.
  • Ensure quality and suitability of distributed agriculture inputs/equipment and maintain internal and external coordination according to the needs of the Alternative Livelihoods and Food Security program.
  • Conduct assessment and identify protection threats around the delivery and distribution locations.
  • Ensure that beneficiaries well understand the proper preparation of cultivation practices, safely store and use of distributed agricultural inputs and equipment.
  • Ensure that the distributed agriculture inputs/equipment meet the farming needs of the target beneficiaries.
  • Collaborate with farmers' committees, elders, and women's groups to identify new adaptable alternative crops.
  • Ensure that the quantity and quality of agriculture inputs/equipment is same across the entire target population.
  • Guide and facilitate the farming family’s groups on safe seed storage through community seed bank practices.
  • Organize and facilitate cropping management and mushroom cultivation practices.
  • Coordinate logistical and financial issues (distance/transportation/cost) related to the distribution of agriculture inputs/equipment packages.
  • Develop and implement “do-no-harm” methodologies and techniques to ensure safe distribution practices.
  • Assist in the establishment and rehabilitation of orchards and vineyards, including the installation of drip irrigation and trellising systems.
  • Regularly inspect agricultural inputs and equipment to ensure consistent quality across the target population.
  • Collecting yield and production data from renovated orchards, along with crop harvesting data, ensuring effective data compression.
  • Compile comprehensive reports and maintain accurate records in both digital and physical formats.
  • Adhere to the organization's security policies and procedures, following daily instructions from safety personnel.
  • Undertake any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor and project manager to support program objectives.

 

Education/ Qualification and Employment Benefits                                                 

 

Education:Bachelor Degree in Agriculture-Horticulture is required. But, master degree is perforable. 
Experience: At least three (3) years of relevant experience in alternative livelihood, food security assistance, climate smart agriculture, crop value chain analysis and management is required. 

Other qualifications’ an advantage: 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective community engagement and report writing.

Ability in team working, Good Interpersonal Skills, Good Organizational Skills 

Languages:Oral and written fluency in (English, Dari, Pashto)
