DACAAR is a non governmental, humanitarian organization that supports sustainable development in Afghanistan through promoting the ability of local communities to decide upon and manage their own development process. The organisation employs around 600 staff of whom 5 are expatriates. Core thematic areas are: Water, Sanitation & Hygiene; Natural Resource Management; Small Scale Enterprise Development; Women’s Empowerment.
Position Description:
The Database Officer is responsible for developing databases based on the requirement

And need of the organization.

He/ She is responsible to take care of all the databases used in DACAAR

·         Designing and developing new databases for DACAAR based on organization needs.

·         Preparing planning dataflow for the newly planned databases.

·         Extracting different report from databases based on user requests.

·         Controlling user access permissions and privileges.

·         Responsible for the planning and maintenance of databases used in DACAAR.

·         Perform database tuning and performance monitoring.

·         Considering both ‘back end’ organization of data and ‘front end’ accessibility for end users.

·         Making sure data remains consistent across all the databases in DACAAR.

·         Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and updating available technical guides based on changes made.

·         Making sure users can access data concurrently, in a form that suits office needs.

·         Ensuring that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are functioning properly.

·         Establishing the needs of users and organization.

·         Making sure data is clearly defined, in newly designed databases.

·         Maintaining data standards and making sure designing concepts are all the same in all DACAAR databases.

·         Communicating regularly with ICT staff to ensure databases integrity and security

·         Training users and providing support and help to users to troubleshoot daily database problems.

·         Maintenance and management of user rights and limitations on different databases used in the organization.

·         Updating and writing user manuals based on changes made and for newly designed databases.

·         Providing information to management and different departments based on their request.

·         Providing support for Microsoft Business Solution – Navision

·         Any other task assign by the Head of ICT Unit.

Education/ Qualification and Employment Benefits                                               
Education: Bachelor degree in Computer Science
Experience:  Minimum of Three years experience in relevant field.
Other qualifications’ an advantage: Full knowledge of MS Access, SQL, VB, VB.NET, PHP Programme Language
Languages: Pashto/Dari & English
