Organization Background
DACAAR is a non governmental, humanitarian organization that supports sustainable development in Afghanistan through promoting the ability of local communities to decide upon and manage their own development process. Core thematic areas are: Water, Sanitation & Hygiene; Natural Resource Management; Small Scale Enterprise Development; Women’s Empowerment.
Position Description:
·         Professional and practical knowledge of Good Agriculture Practices (GAPs), principles and techniques sufficient to assist in the recommendations of planning and implementing agriculture activities specially Training of Trainers and Farmers Field Schools.

·         Practical knowledge of soil health, crop cultivation, harvest and post harvest techniques.

·         Knowledge of pests and diseases, crop health, safe use of pesticides and fungicides and fertilizers.

·         Practical Knowledge of Farmers Participatory Trainings and Research.

·          Organize and facilitate farmer field school sessions.

·         Technical inputs in planning, organising and implementing operational plans of agriculture with concerned communities, line agencies and stakeholders.

·         Hands-on training of farmers on agricultural/horticultural crops cultivation and management specifically saffron cultivation, orchard establishment, vegetable cultivation, and greenhouse management.

·         Facilitate and participate in designing of good agriculture practices, curricula, training manuals and extension methodologies and modalities.

·         Develop sustainable and do-no-harm methodologies and techniques for assisting farmers with planning and execution of crops, directed at improving rural livelihood.

·         Develop, monitor and analyze on-farm research and development of recommendations that can be adopted by the farmers.

·         Identify and promote locally available, low-cost technologies and environmental-friendly farming technologies among farmers.

·         Promote hands-on agriculture waste management techniques among farmers through farmer field schools.

·         Facilitate the process of organizing farmer’s tool kits and its distribution in farmer’s graduation ceremonies.

·         Ensure quality assurance of activities and inputs.

·         Compile reports, document/record Information, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic/magnetic (in soft, hard and audio visual) form.

·         Any other tasks given by the Supervisor.

Education/ Qualification and Employment Benefits                                                

Education: Bachelor Degree in Agriculture especially horticulture
Experience: At least 3 Years of Experience in related field especially FFS Saffron , kitchen gardening,  integrated farming, cultivation, greenhouse management and orchard establishment and management
Other qualifications’ an advantage: IT Proficiency, Good Interpersonal Skills, Good Organizational Skills
Languages: Dari/ Pashto and English.
