Survey & Design Engineer

At least 5 years of experience in survey/ designing of water supply systems and other rural infrastructures such as (culvert, canal lining, water dividers, river bank protection, farmer gather center and etc.) Able to supervise the construction works at regions/ provinces and support the field team in case of any technical need at field. Good inter personal skills, hard workers especially in critical/ emergency situations and proven multi discipline team work skills.

• Survey & designing of water supply and sanitation services.
• Provide technical survey for the water supply and irrigation projects, consider population density for each type project properly.
• Prepare design, maps and technical specification for water supply systems (Gravity, pressure line distribution networks, solar fed-water supply networks, motorized water supply networks and other hydro-technical structures).
• Prepare BoQ and Cost estimation for all kind of designed projects.
• Will design the projects based on the recognized standards for the system and other RCC structures.
• Produce technical engineering studies and cost estimates for option analysis, especially for the solar fed-water supply networks.
• Prepare detailed design, calculation, scope of works, specifications, bills of quantities and drawings of the projects.
• Prepare PRFs of relevant projects, process it further and also provide all the specifications and full package for the announcement and contracts (assist the procurement).
• In case of need reply to technical design related quarries and provide justifications.
• Participate in technical bid evaluation and take an active part in it.
• Ensure all the planned technical projects (water supply, irrigation and etc.) surveyed, designed and shared with the relevant people for timely implementation.
• Ensure proper distribution of water/ pressure in each water supply project to all stand posts.
• Travel to all regions and projects sites for practical survey and supervision of the construction projects.
• Provide project design and detail scope in urgent cases (For emergency project in a short time).
• Able to collect data by GPS, level machine, theodolite machine and other survey instruments.
• Share social and economic concern of the project with the line manager and provide recommendation to the line manager. Specify quarries of local materials availability.
• Report on each field visit to the line manager.
• Any other official duties given by the line manager and authorities.

·         Experience in survey and design of different type of waters supply systems (solar, gravity and motorized), irrigation projects.

·         Be able to use GPS, total station and other survey instruments for the water supply and irrigation project survey.

·         Good knowledge in AutoCAD, Water CAD, water GEMS, EPANET and MS office.

·         Good of system design on water GEMs and EPANET software.

·         Experience in supervision of construction projects

·         Experience in working with international NGOs as well as with the government in relevant field.

·         Familiarity with the WASH policy and procedures and the required guidelines using for WASH/irrigation projects

·         Good speaking and writing in English

·         Fluent in Pashtu and Dari

·         Good team work skills and able to work in emergency situation.

·         Severance pay: one month salary per year of service

·         24 days of paid annual leave per year

·         10 days of paid sick leave per year

·         2 days weekend

·         Eid bonus on both Eids (after the completion of three months service)

·         30 days of paid Hajj leave (after the completion of one year service)

·         90 days of paid maternity leave for female employees(after the completion of three months service)

·         5 days of paid paternity leave for male employees(after the completion of three months service)

·         15 days of public holidays per year

·         Transportation allowance AFN (1500)/ month.
