The organisation employs around 900 staff of whom 05 are expatriates. Core thematic areas are: Water, Sanitation & Hygiene; Natural Resource Management; Small Scale Enterprise Development; Women’s Empowerment. |
Position Description: |
The Strategy Adviser will facilitate the process for the development of DACAAR Strategic Framework Document (2021-2024). During this short-term assignment (3 months), he/she will engage in desk research, interview key donor, NGO and Afghan Government stakeholders, and conduct brainstorming sessions with DACAAR Senior Management and other key staff in Kabul and regional offices as well as the Secretariat and the Governing Board in Copenhagen to discuss and come up with conclusions on possible scenarios unfolding in security, political, social, economic and aid and development context of Afghanistan during the coming strategic period. Based on this analysis the consultant will facilitate a process to come up with strategies on how DACAAR can gear up to meet the future challenges in the operational environment during and to deliver programs and projects most relevant to the needs of the Afghan population. The end product of this assignment will be a strategy document endorsed at different levels of the organization- particularly the Governing Board and Senior Management Team (SMT). To promote ownership, the strategy development process will have to be participatory involving managerial and technical staff at different layers of the organization. |

Education/ Qualification |
Education: Master Degree or higher in the relevant subject is required. |
Experience: Proven experience of similar assignments with reputable NGOs and/or UN organizations. |
Other qualifications’ an advantage:
· Excellent communications skills including English language writing skills. · Good facilitator. · Good research background and experience · Open and flexible. · Prior experience of working in Afghanistan (similar assignments or lead positions with reputable NGOs). |
Languages: Excellent English language writing skills. |
